ArenaNet Art Test

When I started this model, it felt like a slightly larger check than I could cash. However, having chosen such a challenging piece as a personal project has enabled me to gain Zbrush knowledge in the areas of

  • Sculpting male anatomy
  • Sculpting hair and fur
  • Creating re-usable hard surface details
  • Creating and using multi-mesh insert brushes
  • Creating custom alphas and brushes
  • Polypainting
  • Generating textures like cloth with NoiseMaker
  • Generating fur using FiberMesh

I'll be updating this page as I make further progress.

Current turntable of model from ZBrush.

The model is currently fully blocked out, and I've begun laying polypaint down in regions that have their final levels of detail.
I like to start the color work in Zbrush's 3D environment, since projecting the color onto the low res version of the character gives a huge head start in 2D texturing.

Concept for this Havroun cultural armour set and character was created by ArenaNet artist Hyojin Ahn.
